In 2011 and archive of activist buttons, stickers, and other ephemera was given to me by a friend. The archive belonged to her ex-partner who was very active in ACT-UP, the Women's Health Action Mobilization, and the Lesbian Avengers from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s. The archive illustrates the intersectional politics active during this era. I stitched a single-strand embroidery of her collection to form a textile archive. Portrait of Deb (1988-199?) was made for the exhibition This is a Portrait if I Say So: Re-imagining Representation 1912-Present opening in 2016 at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art in Bowdoin, Maine.
